Only 1 Hour and 15 minutes from Melbourne CBD, Somers has so much to offer for couples and families wanting a relaxed or active holiday experience.   • Somers General Store: Since 1927 Somers General Store has offered locals and visitors alike access to the essentials in life. Extensively remodelled in 2008 we now have a kitchen environment and menu that perfectly suits the Somer’s lifestyle of casual good living.   • Local bike trails, beach and bush walks offer spectacular views of the bay
  • Local Markets: Red Hill Community Market – First Saturday of the month. Sept – May. 8am-1pm Red Hill Showgrounds.Village style country market established in September 1975 and one of the best known tourist attractions on the Mornington Peninsula. Its trademark is “Make it, Bake it, Grow it, Breed it.”  Bittern Market – open every Sunday. Local produce.

  • Safe swimming and surf beaches all near by.
  • Sailing – Somers Yacht Club is one of the most active ‘off the beach’ sailing clubs in Victoria. Racing can be seen every Saturday from the end of October to April.
  • Wild Life:  Western Port Bay has its own pod of dolphins that can often be seen off the beach of Somers. They love to swim beside  the yachts as they race and have been seen playing with the children just off shore. Koalas have been a common sight in Somers so be on the look out for them as you drive through the town.
  • Coolart Homestead – a magnificent late Victorian mansion situated on the shores of Westernport. In the superb grounds are ever-changing wetlands that you can view from the observatory, and a lagoon where thousands of Australian white ibis nest every year.
  • Fishing – experienced fisherman or novice, take a charter out of Westernport Marina or fish off the rocks near the yacht club.
  • Visit Phillip Island – enjoy lunch at Cowes on Phillip Island, via the ferry off Stoney Point, or take a longer trip around to Seal Rock.
  • Golf Courses  –  we are close to many well known courses with spectacular views of the bay eg Flinders and Cape Schank or for a good social game with low fees Cerberus is only a 10 minute drive away. 
  • Ashcombe Maze – This beautiful maze and gardens is only a 15 minute drive away and a great days outing for a couple or family.
